Beschreibung

Something wonderful is waiting for you to discover it. It is very important. In fact you were created to discover it. What is this astonishing gift that you are now ready for, that you have always desired, maybe unconsciously, but with all your heart? It is the dream of your own loveliness, the wonder of your own life. It is the gift of recognising divine beauty inside you, all around you, of sensing it everywhere. Now you will begin to perceive yourself and the world in a shockingly delightful way. You will discern the love and meaning in all your experiences, even the painful ones - especially the painful ones. Instead of being diminished by your suffering, your vision will become profound and wise, your imagination will amaze you, your delight in life will flourish, your capacity to love deeply will flood your mind and heart, no matter what. And that beautiful 'catholic imagination' will nourish the souls of those around you. In his universally popular Imagine John Lennon wrote 'They say that I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one'. Of course he's not. Dreamers like you, too, transform the world. Others, then, catch your inner power, your spiritual energy, your gift of imagination, your gift for dreaming - and they will risk dreaming too.

Autorentext

Daniel O'Leary, a priest of the Diocese of Leeds, is an author and teacher. All Hallows College, Dublin is his Alma Mater: Rathmore, Co Kerry his birthplace. As curate and Parish Priest, he has worked in parishes for almost 30 years. For another 20 he taught theology and religious education in St Mary's University College in London and became Chair of its Religious Studies Department before being appointed Episcopal Vicar for Christian Formation in Leeds until 2000. He holds Masters degrees in theology, spirituality and religious education. Award-winning author of 12 books, he is a regular contributor to the Tablet and the Irish Furrow. Currently he gives conferences and retreats to parishioners, teachers, catechists, head-teachers, priests and Diocesan RE Advisers around the country and internationally. His current project is about the recovery of what is called the 'sacramental imagination' in all our spiritual endeavours - in our inner spiritual work as well as our many pastoral and educational ministries. This life-enhancing understanding of the fleshing of God springs from a traditional and orthodox (but mostly forgotten) theology of nature and grace which transforms our understanding of the Incarnation. This understanding, in turn, transforms the quality of our lives and ministry. Our 'hidden self' emerges and we begin to experience in the here and now, the promised 'abundant life'. This theology and spirituality, this new way of being and of seeing, are now the focus of Fr Daniel's life's work. He is, however, still finding it difficult to be the one thing that God wants of each of us - to be a free and authentic human being!
