Hugo and Frieda Jurgens were a young struggling couple in the Thirties. They met, courted and married in South St. Louis, a strong German community much conflicted over support for the rising German Reich and Adolph Hitler. They were a hardworking, honest, God-fearing, and staunch Americans, a thrifty cash-strapped couple trying to start a business,

Or were they?

The Trunk chronicles their slide into full-fledged Nazi spies, greed-driven and opportunistic, and Germany's attempt to involve them in a terrible plot that would kill thousands of Americans.

The story is told through a series of diaries left by Frieda, and discovered by their Son, a mild-mannered University professor, and his wife who see the opportunity to bring the family's secret to a close and at the same time profit by the Nazi's mistakes.
