Motivation

This book provides an introduction to motivational research on the basis of everyday phenomena and self-awareness. The discussion leads from explanations based on instinct and drive theory through the analysis of situational stimuli towards classic motivational psychology. Aspects drawn from current research that are discussed include volitional research, risk motivation and pleasurable absorption in activity (flow experience). The concept of motivational competence is then drawn out. The final chapter deals with ways of measuring motivation (motivational diagnosis). Using selected examples, the authors succeed in making typical forms of behaviour and model conceptions comprehensible. For this ninth edition, the content has been updated and educational aspects have been revised.

Prof. em. Dr. Falko Rheinberg leitete bis 2007 die Abteilung Allgemeine Psychologie am Institut für Psychologie der Universität Potsdam. Prof. Dr. Regina Vollmeyer ist Professorin am Arbeitsbereich Pädagogische Psychologie an der Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt.

Zusammenfassung
Ausgehend von Alltagsphanomenen und Selbsterfahrung fuhrt dieses Buch in die Motivationsforschung ein. Die Darstellung leitet von instinkt- und triebtheoretischen Erklarungen uber die Analyse von situativen Anreizen hin zur klassischen Motivationspsychologie. Aus der aktuellen Forschung werden u. a. Willensprozesse (Volitionsforschung), die Risikomotivation und das freudvolle Aufgehen in der Tatigkeit (Flow-Erleben) behandelt. Anschlieend wird das Konzept der motivationalen Kompetenz hergeleitet. Das letzte Kapitel behandelt Moglichkeiten, Motivation zu messen (Motivationsdiagnostik). Den Autoren gelingt es, mit ausgewahlten Beispielen typische Verhaltensweisen und Modellvorstellungen nachvollziehbar zu machen. Die 9. Auflage wurde inhaltlich aktualisiert sowie unter didaktischen Gesichtspunkten uberarbeitet.
